'REBORN' is a one of its kind opportunity for performing artists from all backgrounds to form an ensemble and train to overhaul themselves. The base process draws from Indian traditional dance forms, its theory, everyday urban rituals and the pedagogy of embodied practice from the London International School of Performing Arts in Berlin. The roots of this creative process lie in the practice that everything is born from the knowledge and physicality of the body. Thrice a week we will share the space to explore our own bodies, the collective body and the spaces we inhabit to bring out stories perhaps unknown to and from within us. This process invites applications from actors, dancers, movement-practitioners, musicians, writers, visual artists and space designers. Exploring how we each play a role in the making of this collective story becomes the central theme over the 5 months of rigorous work as an ensemble.
Over the course of 5 months, an ensemble of 10 members will go through a process of creating physical scores, script, story and narrative generated from the body. This will be a devised work of the team that will eventually become a staged performance.
This process work makes everyday physical practice the source of material generation along with placing the body as the skeletal framework to build upon. The months will entail exploration of movements, words, lines, sounds, images and physical spaces.
