Israel Horovitz's

THE INDIAN
WANTS THE BRONX

English 90 Min | First Staged In 2008

It is the story of a middle-aged South Indian stranded on the Manhattan Streets in the city of New York, late at night. He is looking for a way to the Bronx, to his only son, Prem. Authored by the celebrated American playwright: Israel Horovitz, ‘…Bronx’, largely deals with the rampant evil of racism, highlighting the fact that racism shows itself in many colors and shades – not just in black and white. In the Indian context, the play brings to light the sharp cultural divides within the country, leading to latent forms of indifference and apathy that’s often witnessed but then conveniently concluded as stray incidents in a culturally-diverse nation.
